Unlike other lower grade compound handles used in the market today, Siliware Concepts designed and developed a product that withstands high level temperatures but most importantly resists bacteria growth. When our prototype specialists and engineers researched different types of silicone materials, our experts noticed most manufactures use very low quality of raw materials, which compromises the longevity of silicones handles. The majority of manufacturers machine process their handles, it provides them with a cost effective method to mass produce handles using cheaper commercial grade silicones to compensate for "quality " and the integrity of the silicone. Our vision was to engineer and produce a high quality, food grade, and heat resistant handle for the hospitality industry. After designing our concept handle, our next step was researching the best silicone polymers that exhibit a natural resistance to bacteria build-up, large range of working temperatures, excellent resistance to chemical properties, flexibility, odorless and tasteless.
A primary reason for this product began when a client working in a restaurant discussed his ordeal coming in contact with teflon handles that eventually lead to food poisoning. After observing and theorizing the transporting of bacteria from a dirty teflon handle, it made perfect sense in taking up the project with developing the handle. With most food handlers avoiding bacterial contamination which can lead to food poisoning, testing shows that despite the efforts, large traces of propagated bacteria transfer from unsanitary non-silicone handles to hands, other equipment and food which is subsequently ingested. Under several case studies, lab test results showed high trace amounts of E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, mold, and other bacterial pathogens on non silisone handles.
